Model, boxer Luke Gersbeck ‘Lucky Punch’ could be Nikita Tszyu’s next opponent, No Limit card, Luke Gersbeck vs Lilo Telepe, Jason Mallia vs Ben Horn #adessonews

Nikita Tszyu is being chased down by an Australian model who, dubbed ‘Lucky Punch’, only last month sat ringside to watch him fight after brushing luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton.

On an undefeated tear stretching eight fights, Melbourne’s Luke Gersbeck is looking to punch his way into a Tszyu showdown when he faces Lilo Telepe on the latest No Limit on Fox showcase, Thursday night.

Coming only three weeks after the younger Tszyu continued his own unbeaten streak against Koen Mazoudier, the No Limit event will unleash some of the nation’s most exciting undefeated talent – led by Gersbeck, welterweight Jason Mallia (8-0) and lightweight Billy Polkinghorn (3-0).

While the headliner sees Mallia fighting for the vacant Australian welterweight title against Ben Horn, one of the other big storylines is Gersbeck’s push towards a showdown with Tszyu.

While Aussie bad boy Michael Zerafa is favoured to be next up for ‘The Butcher’ later this year — or early 2025 if a hand injury Tszyu suffered against Mazoudier takes longer to heal than initially anticipated — Gersback is looking to win his own way into the mix.

Apart from being promoted by former world super featherweight champion Will Tomlinson, the 30-year-old also recently inked a deal with renowned modelling agency IMG, whose talent list include the likes of Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen, and Miranda Kerr.

“So on the night Tszyu beat Mazoudier in Sydney, Luke was actually across town at a Louis Vuitton party,” Tomlinson explains.

“He eventually ditched that so he could come across to watch the fights.

“It was about six months ago now he signed with IMG and it’s great he can do both … (laughs) He just has to be sure to keep a nice tight defence when he fights.”

Tomlinson also praised the punching power of Gersbeck, who has finished five of seven rivals and boasts only one slight blemish on his record, a 2022 draw against Isaias Sette.

“So Luke is absolutely on a trajectory to clash with Nikita Tszyu,” Tomlinson told Fox Sports Australia.

“And not too far down the track, either.

“He’s definitely got the skill to match Nikita and is a big puncher too.

“Very big puncher.

“Luke has stopped almost every opponent he’s faced, which Nikita would have to be wary of given (the amount of times) he has been hit recently.

“But really, he’s strong in plenty of areas.

“And fundamentally, very tight.

“Accurate puncher.

“Coming from a taekwondo background too, he’s got really fast footwork.

“Really nimble and agile for a super welterweight.”

Tomlinson, whose Wildfire Boxing promotion is working in conjunction with No Limit to host Thursday’s event, stressed however his charge knows undefeated New Zealander Telepe (4-0) will prove a “dangerous” assignment.

Elsewhere, the promoter also tipped undefeated Mallia to win his Australian welterweight title fight against the brother of Australian boxing legend Jeff Horn.

Tomlinson is no stranger to the talents of the 29-year-old, who acted as a sparring partner during the final stages of his own career.

“And he holds some victories over me in those sparring sessions,” recounted the man who, dubbed ‘Wild Will’, beat Mexican Jose Herrera Garcia for the IBO super featherweight title in 2011.

“Towards the tail end of my camps when I was cutting weight, yeah, he gave me a couple of touch ups.

“So Jason definitely has the ability to become a world class fighter.

“The aim is to win the Australian title on Thursday night and then move straight on to a regional belt and get that world rating.

“But in saying that Ben Horne is a livewire.

“He’s got that unconventional style where he swings wildly, doesn’t box by the books.

“That could potentially upset Jason’s rhythm

“We know Ben loves to cause the upset, as we saw back in ‘23 when he came down here and beat Joel Taylor.

“And no doubt, he’ll be coming down here again convinced he can do the same.

“But I think Jason should be too classy to fall into any traps.

“It will definitely be a great test and I think he’ll rise to the occasion.”

The undercard will also see rising Australian lightweight prospect Polkinghorn take on Wilber Carame, who is on debut, while super lightweight Joel Taylor (11-1) faces Japan’s Kohei Hatanaka (1-0).

Another interesting bout on the 10-fight card involves Melbourne middleweight Blake Wells (10-2), who faces Aucklander Apai Piutau Cook (3-1).
